Yes, if three things are true. The agent must be able to proceed without you, or park the work when it genuinely needs you. Usage-limit resets have to be handled automatically, because the reset will land while you sleep. And nothing should reach your main branch unreviewed unless you explicitly chose that trade.
How Tempo does it
Set a task to auto-run and it goes from scope to merged unattended: the agent scopes, plans, builds in its own worktree, drives your app in a real browser to check the work, and merges under Tempo's merge lock.
Two things pause a task instead of guessing: a real blocking question from the agent, and a failed QA run. Everything else proceeds. If Claude Code hits its usage limit overnight, Tempo holds the queue and resumes the moment the window resets.
Autonomy is per task and per project, so "overnight mode" can be the exception or the default. Either way, you read merged diffs in the morning instead of a stalled session.
